Peterborough: AdminNotes
Ideas Peterborough Tools
Ideas Peterborough is a face-to-face meeting of creators, thinkers, solvers and all round great folk. The face-to-face aspect is supported by some tools on the interwebz because, well, it is the 21st century.
The tool doing the heaviest lifting is this wiki. You’re here reading it so you know about it. That’s good. We want lots of contributors - go ahead and make an account and figure out how to edit. On a wiki all pages changes are tracked so if you make a mistake you can always roll it back a step.
The other tools are the Ideas - Peterborough Facebook page or and Twitter @ideasptbo.
Guidelines
Here are some guidelines that we hope will keep this thing running:
- near the start of each meeting (so we don’t forget) someone will be nominated to chair the next meeting
- the meeting chairs’ jobs are:
- ensure the location and time are in the Spill Bar’s calendar of events
- market the meeting
- create a new wiki page and agenda for the upcoming meeting
- find an administrator who can create a Facebook event in the Ideas - Peterborough Facebook page and invite people
- create some social media chatter about the next meeting!
- build the agenda over the two weeks with input from others - it’s a wiki - everyone chip in!!
- run the meeting
- keep notes and update the wiki page meeting agenda into a log of issues discussed
- make sure you nominate the next chair and that they know about their duties/this list and help them get off to a good start
Who is doing what
Facebook page managers: Kris, Mark
Wiki editors: Lichen Taco/Liam, TBunc/Tammy, LenHall/Lenard, Billtemp/Bill, Lindsayptbo/Lindsay, BorisJones/Chris Sfunnell/Sara
Wiki admins: cqwww/Kris, perspicuity/Mark
Since Kris left Peterborough on Jan 13, 2014 it would be helpful if a couple of people offered to help Mark share the load.
Things to try
As meeting chair, you can also try something out of the box for a meeting to see how it works out. While optional, here are a few ideas:
- Arrange a speaker to talk about an innovative idea that would likely interest the group (such things is marketed on social media will also bring in new people)
- Challenge the group for the next meeting… perhaps everyone should spent the two weeks coming up with an idea that (pick one of the following)
- solves a major problem
- the group would likely want to work on together collaboratively
- draw in other creative and interesting people or
- generates revenue
- tries a different venue. Perhaps Wes’ work to see the injection moulding machine for example
- arrange with Kris to have a video session with a West coast ideas chapter one evening
- see if you can grow larger than Ideas Toronto
- organize a hackathon
- have a creation night where the group builds something
- spend a night discussing ideas only on how you can help each other
