I would like to discuss sustainable modes of transportation here. It seems obvious that best solutions are alternatives to our dependence on fossil fueled vehicles. In order of precedence, the top things we can do to reduce our dependence are:

  1. whenever possible, choose destinations that are close to home
  2. avoid flying fossil fuel powered aircraft
  3. walk or bicycle where possible
  4. If there is an existing bus route, take the bus.
  5. carpool where not, whenever possible

MIT’s city car "It would weigh between 1,000 and 1,200 pounds and could collapse, then stack like a shopping cart with six to eight fitting into a typical parking space."

Tesla motors is offering a 100% electric car for $98,000USD which claims 0-60 in under 4 seconds, 135mpg equivalent, less than 2 cents USD per mile.
